Buying/Upgrading a Computer or PDA

There you can see what the company sells and can, in most cases,
purchase a computer online.
There are thousands of software web sites on the Internet. This
list provides a sample of what's out there. Some of the links lead
to commercial software that can be downloaded. These programs cost
about the same as they would in a retail store. Software Sites
These sites contain mostly commercial software; some
shareware/freeware may be available. Note: Shareware is
available for a minimal fee, and freeware is free.

You can download free browser software from each of the following
homepages:
Plug-Ins allow your browser to play or display certain file
types, such as sound, video, and multimedia. Some browsers already
include some or all of these plug-ins. Extensions allow you to use
other Internet protocols, such as FTP and Telnet. Most computers
systems have FTP and Telnet software, search your hard drive to see
if it is loaded. If you don't have these programs, you can download
them from the following sites:
- RealAudio
& RealVideo Allows your browser to play sound clips and
video clips, even if you're only using a 14.4 bps modem.
- ShockWave
This plug-in allows your browser to play multimedia interactive
animation.
- Adobe
Acrobat Reader If you want to view InfoTrac articles in
their original format, or print tax forms from the U.S. or
Michigan IRS web pages, you need this program. It will display
files that are saved as .pdf files.
- PKZIP
for Windows By downloading and installing this program, you
will be able to download and install other programs that are
"zipped." Large programs are zipped in order to
compress the data so that download time is faster. Once
downloaded, these zipped programs need to be
"unzipped" in order for you to install them. PKZIP
helps you do just that.

- WS_FTP
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) allows you to download files
without using your browser. The advantage to using FTP is that
is takes less time to download files (especially large program
files).
